Senator John Barrasso appeared on MSNBC recently, criticizing Democrats and President Barack Obama for their proposal to raise the national debt ceiling. Barrasso says that with the unemployment rate where it is, the president should focus less on foreign policy issues and more on halting the country's spending.
Barrasso went on to support the Republicans' counter of 100 percent spending cuts to the Democrats' proposal of 83 percent spending cuts and 17 percent tax increases.
He says the solution to the problem is not just a balanced approach but a balanced budget amendment.
The last time the Democrats brought a budget forward in the Majority in the Senate was more than two years ago, Barrasso said.
