This past June, Alton Miller of Banner won the Sheridan-leg of the Texaco Country Showdown Competition. He has impressed again, this time at the Montana State Fair winning 1,000 and a chance to play in the regional final of the competition this November in Oregon. Depending on how he fares there, he could compete in the National Final next.

Representing KYTI the Coyote, Miller played the two songs he played in Sheridan, Don't Land in Atlanta, and the Man that Made the Medal. Miller talked about the songs when he was in Sheridan.

The West Regional Final is Nov. 19 at the Mill Casino and Hotel in Coos Bay, Oregon. Winner of the National Final in Nashville gets $100,000 and a chance to be called the “Best New Act in County Music.”

The Texaco Country Music Showdown has helped kick-start the careers of country artists like Martinia McBride, Garth Brooks, Miranda Lambert, Neal McCoy, Sara Evans and Billy Ray Cyrus.
