Auction to Benefit Local Music Scholarship

Auction to Benefit Local Music Scholarship

The Dan Carlat Memorial Scholarship Fund Auction is coming up January 20 at the Occidental Saloon in Buffalo. Aaron Palmer has the story.

Co-organizer Lynn Young said the musicians at the Thursday night Occidental Jam started the scholarship fund.

The scholarship is awarded to a local student that will go on to study music in college, Young said. The auction will begin at 6 pm on the 25th, and Young said it will be a good time for a good cause.

Tax-deductible donations are still being accepted by the organization through January 13 to give them a chance to process them and get them on display for the auction.
Any purchase at the auction beyond the value of the item is tax-deductible as well.

Larry Brannian will be the auctioneer and there will be both a live and a silent auction.

Young said last year's auction raised nearly $12,000 and they were able to give a $1,500 scholarship to Tyler Schank, who is majoring in music at Northwest College in Powell.
Tyler and some of his musical friends will perform at 6 pm before this Thursday's Occidental Jam. Young said both events will be a lot of fun.
