The Alliance for Substance Abuse Prevention for Sheridan County will be hosting its next strategic planning session next Monday, March 25, to formulate action plans and programs to combat issues related to tobacco and other drugs. Sheridan Media's Chris Foy reports.

At its last planning session in January, the topic of alcohol alone was the primary focus. Those in attendance ranked their priorities when it comes to tackling the issues of alcohol misuse and abuse in Sheridan County. Thom Gabrukiewicz, community prevention specialist with the Wyoming Prevention Management Organization, says those steps that were approved by members of the public at the meeting have recently been approved by the state.

He says the Wyoming Department of Health left it up to each individual county to come up with action plans related to these issues, including suicide prevention.

Members of the public are invited to attend the planning session and provide their input on what they feel is important prevention-wise in Sheridan County - and where they'd like to see it headed in the next 18 months and beyond.

The meeting will take place at noon on March 25 at the Holiday Inn's Sugarland Mining Company restaurant in Sheridan.
