The Sheridan Police Department became the target of an attempted arson Saturday night.
Police Lieutenant, Chris Dahmke, says they believe someone tried to set a patrol car on fire Saturday night at about 10:30 on the 400 block of West Burkitt Street.
The police report states there was minimal, if any, damage to the patrol car. Dahmke said it appears someone also attempted to set fire to a flower planter on the 1800 block of Terra Avenue, on the south side of town, the same evening.
Both cases are currently under investigation. Dahmke said the witness to the patrol car fire did report seeing a suspect dressed in dark clothing leaving the area at the time. He said as always, citizens should take reasonable precautions to promote their own safety, which includes locking up their houses and vehicles.
