Writers from Sheridan, Big Horn and Gillette were among the winners in this year's writing contest at the Wyoming Writer's Conference.
Bonnie Sargent of Sheridan received honorable mention in the Children's/Juvenile Fiction competition with her short story, “Rat Haven.” There were 11 entries.
Renee Meador of Big Horn took home honorable mentions in Traditional Poetry, competing in a field of 28 entries, and Free Verse Poetry, which drew 56 entries.
Constance Brewer of Gillette won first and third places and honorable mention in the Free Verse division, and honorable mention in Fiction, in a field of 21.
A former Sheridan resident, Susan Vittitow Mark, won second place in the Nonfiction division, among a field of 28.
The writers' conference wraps up today at Sheridan's Holiday Inn. More than 100 writers from across Wyoming and neighboring states attended.
