If you're an angler in Wyoming, chances are you've tested your hand at ice fishing a time or two, and with the colder than usual winter that we've had so far has done nothing but aid the sport. Game and Fish Public Information Officer Warren Mischke.
Mischke said that while the fish may not be very big, ice fishing does present an opportunity to catch a lot of fish at any one particular time. While ice fishing in northeast Wyoming remains a popular wintertime activity, there have been some reports of misuse at Healy Reservoir, which is privately owned.
Mischke said people need to be extra careful on Lake DeSmet since the ice can be a foot thick in one area, and very thin or open water in a nearby area.
