April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month and today, Tuesday April 3, is the national day of action for sexual assault prevention.
According to a report from the U.S. Department of Justice nearly 20 percent of the population has experienced some type of sexual assault in their lifetime. This year's campaign adopted by the National Sexual Violence Resource Center is “it's time...to talk about it” and urges people to “start a dialogue” about healthy sexuality.
