SCHOOL SHOOTING

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (AP) - Authorities say they have found a possible Molotov cocktail at the scene of a school shooting in suburban Denver.

Arapahoe County Sheriff Grayson Robinson said Friday that investigators are examining the device.

Robinson says the shooter shot two others at Arapahoe High School in Centennial before apparently killing himself on Friday

The sheriff says the shooter was armed with a shotgun and looking for a teacher he identified by name when he approached the school.

Robinson says the teacher immediately left the school when he learned the student was looking for him.

Robinson says the shooter then shot two students, one of whom is in serious condition at a hospital. The other is also hospitalized with a minor gunshot wound.

MOTHER-BROTHER-DEAD

Florida man arrested in Wyoming on murder warrants

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - A man accused of killing his mother and brother in Florida has been arrested in Wyoming and faces extradition to his home state.

Wyoming Highway Patrol Sgt. Stephen Townsend says 24-year-old Steven Tompkins was arrested late Thursday along Interstate 25, about 65 miles north of Cheyenne.

Tompkins is wanted in connection with the killings of his mother, 55-year-old Shelley Tompkins, and his brother, 22-year-old Daniel Tompkins. They were found dead Tuesday in their home near Fort Myers.

Townsend said Tompkins and a teenage companion were arrested after their truck ran out of gas. The truck was reported stolen. Law enforcement nationwide had been on the lookout for Tompkins.

AMBIEN DEFENSE DELAY

Casper molestation trial delayed until March

CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - A man accused of molesting a 10-year-old Casper girl won't go on trial until March, nearly a year after his arraignment.

Prosecutors asked a judge Thursday for more time to arrange expert testimony and allow Glynn Howard Johnson to be evaluated by the state hospital.

The Casper Star-Tribune reported that Natrona County District Judge Catherine Wilking was visibly angry but granted the request. She said it would be the fourth delay in the proceedings.

Johnson's lawyer, Tom Fleener, has indicated he will present the so-called Ambien defense at trial. Fleener has said Johnson took the popular sleeping pill the night of the alleged crime and doesn't remember what happened.

METH ARREST

Sheriff: Arrest yields close to 40 pounds of drugs

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - The Laramie County Sheriff's Department says officers have seized a total of nearly 40 pounds of methamphetamine and cocaine following the arrest of a local man last month.

Federal prosecutors have charged 53-year-old Phillip Martin of Cheyenne with possession of 500 grams or more of methamphetamine following his Nov. 26 arrest. A federal magistrate has ordered him detained.

A press release from the sheriff's office on Thursday states officers first found nearly 9 pounds of meth and cocaine in Martin's vehicle. It states a later search of his residence turned up 29 pounds of meth and another pound of cocaine, along with 25 guns and $18,500 in cash.

Cheyenne lawyer Terry Harris represents Martin and has declined comment on the prosecution. An attempt to reach Harris on Thursday was unsuccessful.
