Antelope Butte Public Meeting Tuesday in Gillette

Members of the group working to reopen the Antelope Butte Ski Area will hold a public informational meeting Tuesday, January 24th, as they look to continue spreading the word about their efforts.

Plenty of information will be handed out at the meeting, including details on how to donate, which can also be attained at the foundation's website.

The ski area was closed prior to the 2005-2006 ski season, with owners citing reasons of lack of snow and an aging population that had both impacted its bottom line.

The Antelope Butte Foundation intends to reopen the ski area as a nonprofit after they determined that it would best support their goal of bringing “affordable skiing and snowboarding, especially for youth, beginners, and traditionally under served populations,” according to their website.

They are currently spreading information and looking for donations and support toward that goal. Check out their website at antelopebuttefoundaton.org or "like" Antelope Butte Foundation on Facebook to find out more.

This week's meeting will be held in Gillette with an informational presentation at 6 pm in the Gillette College Presentation Hall. The ABF holds meetings in different towns in Sheridan, Johnson and Campbell counties in an effort to garner as much support as possible from potential winter recreationalists.
