Phone lines are open and volunteers are ready and waiting to set up appointments for the annual Sheridan Memorial Hospital Blood Screening. The event is set for the week of August 22nd through 27th, in preparation for the 2011 Health Fair coming up September 24th.
Cecile Pattison is the Public Relations Director at the hospital and tells us about something new in the pre-registering process.
Of the many tests, there is one that is growing in popularity, says Gary Sellenrick, Lab Manager at Memorial.
Pattison indicates that there are 29 different tests which screen liver and kidney functions, muscle and bone functions, electrolytes, blood, thyroid, heart -- including cholesterol and triglycerides -- the pancreas and gout.
Cost for the wellness screen is $50, and the Complete Blood Count is being offered for an additional $15. The CBC tests for anemia, hematocrit and hemoglobin, and white and red blood cell counts. And men also have the option of a Prostate Specific Antigen blood screen for an additional $30.
