Friday's 5pm deadline to file to run for public offices in the City of Buffalo or in Johnson County has come and gone, and we now have the final list of who filed.
As of 4:55pm Friday, Bill Hawley and Scott Madsen were the only two who filed for the two openings on the city council, and according to City Clerk Julie Silbernagel, no other filing packets had been picked up.
The two seats up for election this year are currently held by Justin Gerard and Bill Hawley.
For the county commission opening, five candidates had filed as of the same time Friday afternoon: Jim Hicks, Russ Humphrey, Albert “Smokey” Wildeman, John Lueders, and Charles Martin “Chuck” Bidonde.
The seat on the commission up for election is now held by Wildeman.
The primary election will be August 21, and the general election will be November 6.
