It was Science Saturday this past weekend at the Sheridan College Academic Center atrium, as kids of all ages made their own hot air balloons and tried their hands at flying them.
Sarah Mentock coordinated the event and says science is an integral part of a child's learning.
Several dozen kids built miniature hot air balloons of their own design and attempted to fly them outside, with many landing on the Academic Center roof. Mentock explains the purpose of the project is more than just blowing off a lot of hot air.
Sarah Harper was there with her husband and three kids. She says Science Saturday breaks up the weekend.
Science Saturdays are held the first Saturday of each month.
