Her name is...
Let's just call her Chumba. Thursday night in the CTEL Presentation Hall of Sheridan College, Chumba gave the 30-plus people there, a tour of her native country Kenya, a third world nation.
It was Day 1 of Sheridan College's 4th Annual "Festival of Cultures," and Chumba covered everything from geography to politics to sports and several rites of passage which you won't find in Wikipedia.
A favorite drink there is "mursik."
It has to be an acquired taste.
Finishing up her degree in electrical engineering at the University of Wyoming in May, Chumba wants to go back to Kenya and be a "nation builder," in a country plagued by greed and corruption.
Education for Kenyans is vital to survival.
Tonight wraps up the Festival of Cultures. Called "Foreign Fusion," it will be held at the Golden Dome of the college beginning at 5:30. Claudia Colnar tells us what it's all about.
Tickets will not be available at the door and must be purchased at Sheridan College before the event.
