The Sheridan Police Department recently completed a round of alcohol compliance checks of local businesses.
Police conducted operations where they sent an underage decoy to Sheridan businesses to attempt to purchase alcohol. Of the thirty-eight businesses checked, eight businesses were issued citations over the past month for completing the transaction. Police Lieutenant Chris Dhamke said different scenarios can lead business to a ticket.
Five of the eight citations for furnishing alcohol to minors were issued last weekend. Dhamke said big sweeps like this keep businesses on their toes.
Alcohol compliance checks are completed at different times during the year. The last go-around lasted from April 24 to May 26, and the previous checks were in December. Servers who passed the surprise inspections were awarded gift certificates to Domino's.
