An Ad Hoc Air Service Task Force working to “assure and improve air service” to Sheridan's Airport is also seeking the help of Buffalo and Johnson County businesses and concerned citizens to help secure the airport and the sourrounding area's economies.
Jay Stender, with Forward Sheridan, spoke briefly at the Buffalo Chamber of Commerce luncheon Wednesday, to present information and gain local support on the task force.
Angela Jarvis, of the Buffalo Chamber of Commerce, explains more about what they hope to acomplish.
Leakage, or persons flying elsewhere other than Sheridan's Airport, was 17% in June of 2012 and 14% in July, according to statistics provided by the Task Force. The leakage affects both Sheridan and Johnson Counties. Tourism, they say, is positively impacted by reliable air service.
Jarvis explains why Buffalo and Johnson County should be concerned.
The Task Force needs to form a standing committee with community support from both counties to then go after Airport Service Grants to help stabilize air service at Sheridan's Airport.
