Volunteers are needed in several areas at the Advocacy & Resource Center in Sheridan.

The Advocacy and Resource Center has put out a call for several areas of volunteering. The most critical need, says Director Bonnie Young, is the Crisis Line.

Young tells us who would make an ideal volunteer in this area.

She says they need seven people to man the Crisis Line. It takes a strong person, too, who can listen to a lot of emotional pain and fear without being able to provide easy answers. It also requires someone who can commit the time.

The Crisis Line is operated between 5 pm overnite to 10 o'clock the following morning, seven days a week.

Other ways to help, she tells us.

She says that they need someone to volunteer to manage those phones, by keeping them charged and ready to use.

Yet another area in which to volunteer, Young says.

Young adds that volunteers are also needed in child care, maintaining donations and maintaining the yard and building of the center's property.
