The Sheridan Senior Center Advisory Committee, which is comprised of SSC board members and members of the community, met with Community Builders, Inc. of Douglas Thursday afternoon.
CBI is doing the center's Needs Assessment, says the center's director, Carmen Rideout. She tells us there were a “whole host of things” the group considered at the meeting.
Rideout says that the center is busy planning for a future that addresses the three most common fears of an aging population, those being loneliness, helplessness and boredom.
CBI was hired with $25,000 in grant monies the City of Sheridan is sponsoring. Rideout says that the group narrowed down their next-step priorities, and CBI will take the information to make up a report for the Center, the Board of Directors and the City to use in implementing programs and facilities for seniors in the next five to ten years.
