Accreditation Team To Assess JCSD1 Next Month

At their meeting Monday night, the Johnson County School Board discussed their upcoming accreditation assessment, which will happen the week of October 7-10.

AdvancED Accreditation staff will interview stakeholder groups, tour the districts' buildings, examine the district's evidence and ask questions of the board, staff and others.

The school board voted to move their October 8 meeting to October 10 to accommodate the accreditation, and they will receive a preliminary report from AdvancED then, with the official report following the meeting.

District Superintendent Dr. Rod Kessler explained more about the upcoming accreditation.

During the examinations, AdvancED will be looking at five standards and evaluating the district on their implementation of those standards.
They are: (1) Purpose and Direction, (2) Governance and Leadership, (3) Teaching and Assessing for Learning, (4) Resources and Support Systems, and (5) Using Results For Continous Improvement.

Dr. Jeannie Barent said the new accreditation process is being used for the first time on the Johnson County School District.

Again, the accreditation will be happening the second week of October.
