A media release from the Wyoming Highway Patrol states that at approximately 9:05 Monday morning, 31-year-old Dayton resident Amie Dominguez was killed in a two vehicle crash on Interstate 90 one mile east of exit 20 near Sheridan.
According to the Highway Patrol, Dominguez was eastbound on I-90 in the right lane when she approached a slower moving vehicle, which was also traveling in the right lane. Dominguez misjudged the speed and turned sharply to avoid hitting the other vehicle, which caused her vehicle to rotate clockwise as it went into and across the median. The vehicle then tripped as it exited out of the median and overturned on the westbound lanes of travel.
As the vehicle entered into the westbound lanes, it was struck by a commercial vehicle owned by Mountain West Express. After the vehicle was struck, it was redirected into the guardrail along the north shoulder before coming to rest on its top facing north. During the rollover, Dominguez was ejected from the vehicle and died on scene. The media release from the Highway Patrol indicates that events prior to the crash remain under investigation.
