Absentee Ballots Starting To Arrive In Cap-Tax Election

The Sheridan County Elections Office mailed out more than 180 absentee ballots for next week’s special Capital Facilities Tax election. 110 of those have already been returned. Elections Director Brenda Miech says it’s too soon to guess whether or not that will be any indication of voter turnout next Tuesday.

The construction on Burkitt Street is making access to the courthouse more difficult and those who wish to vote early should call before stopping by the elections office. That office is next to the County Commissioners meeting room on the 2nd floor of the courthouse addition.

Those who wish to have ballots mailed out and have not requested them yet, may be out of luck. With just one week until the election, voters will have to hurry to return the ballots to the courthouse by next Tuesday.
