And they're off! The Sheridan County Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall will once again be the site of what has become one of the most anticipated fundraising events of the year.
It's the 8th Annual “Nite at the Races” benefiting CHAPS (Children, Horses and Adults in Partnership), an equine assisted therapy program for physically and emotionally challenged people of all ages.
CHAPS Director Sue Suddith says that along with the ten videos of real horse races – names, dates and places are unknown – there will be other opportunities to win prizes.
There will also be a live auction after the seventh horse race, and a silent auction with donations from always-generous businesses and individuals in the community.
Even the losers of the races get a chance to win something, says Suddith.
Tickets for the event, which takes place on May 7th in conjunction with the Kentucky Derby, are available at the Cottonwood Kitchen Shop, the WYO Theatre Box Office, Ann Gardner State Farm Insurance and WYO Family Chiropractic in Sheridan, at The Corner Grocery in Dayton, or at MTR Ranch Supply in Buffalo.
Cost is $40 per person or $300 for a table of eight. Tickets include a buffet Kentucky Derby-style meal, $20.00 in Pony Bucks with which to wager and entry into several raffles throughout the night.
Doors open at 5:45, buffet dinner is at 6 pm, and post time for the first horse race is 6:40.
