Monday, June 21st, the public is invited to attend a free concert on the grounds of the Sheridan VA Medical Center. Sheridan Media's Mary Jo Johnson has more.

Sgt. Daniel Griese is the Publicity NCO with the 451st Army Band, and he tells us why this prestigious group is coming to Sheridan.

The 451st has performed both nationally and internationally. Some of their notable concerts have included a 2004 performance in Rome, Italy at ceremonies honoring the 60th anniversary of the WWII liberation of Italy; and in 1994, the 451st was selected by the Chief of the Army Reserve to represent the United States Army Reserve at the ceremonies commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Allied Landings in Normandy, France at ceremonies in Paris – it was the only Army Reserve band selected for that assignment.

As for Monday's concert, Sgt. Griese describes the program.

The 451st Army Band is scheduled to begin playing at 1:30; in case of rain, the band will perform in the VA Auditorium, which is located in Building 61 on the VA campus.
