A harvest moon nestled in a bed of stars on a warm summer night has all the fixins of a country song, and this backdrop couldn’t have been any better for a good old-fashioned barn dance.  That’s what happened Saturday night at the Winfield Ranch near Banner as Volunteers of America hosted its 3rd Annual Bandana Barn Dance.

A fundraiser for Volunteers of America, C-E-O Jeff Holsinger says the gala event is a way to bring the community in directly with the work of VOA.

Money raised Saturday night will also be used to start planning for a new men’s state-of-the-art residential facility on the VOA campus just south of Sheridan College.  The current facility, called the Life House, is located in the old hospital building on Saberton and is aging rapidly.

The dance included a buffet dinner, a silent and a live auction, horse stalls converted into poker and blackjack rooms, a digital shooting range, and a dance with the Saddle Tramps out of Bozeman, MT providing the foot-stompin' tunes.

Estimates are that the event raised about $100,000; we'll have final numbers for you later today.
