37 Wyoming Post Offices Under Review for Closure by USPS

In an effort by the United States Postal Service to reduce post offices by one in every 10 nationwide, 37 offices in Wyoming including several Sheridan and Buffalo area locations, are under review for closure. Al Desarro with the Communications Office of the Western Region of the USPS explains the process that these post offices will undergo.

Desarro went on to explain that the USPS has started this process because of several cost-cutting factors to account for a loss in volume caused by first class mail declining because of Internet, and advertising mail being declined by email in the past few years. He says that they will still work to provide the same level of service, and that in the case that an office does close they will maintain a presence within a community through alternatives like “village post offices”.

The USPS aims to study 3,700 offices nationwide, and 60-day period is available for those under review to submit comments.

A few of the offices that are on the Wyoming list include the Wyarno, Arvada, and Recluse offices. The full list can be found through this link.
