The 16th Annual Christmas Stroll will kick off the holiday shopping season tonight in downtown Sheridan. Judy Taylor, Chairman of the Christmas Stroll Committee, tells us how it all began.

Stroll buttons are $5, and this year's 96 participating businesses can be found through a link at the Sheridan Chamber of Commerce website.

For those who may need a reminder, Taylor explains how the buttons work.

Matching your button number with a store number earns the store prize, and it also enters the winner into a grand prize drawing for $1,000 in Chamber Bucks. The grand prize drawing will take place on December 27th.

Rides up and down Main Street at this year's event will be provided by four horse drawn carriages and two trollies. And, of course Santa and Mrs. Claus will be there.

The event lasts from 4 to 8 pm, concluding with a fireworks display, seen from Grinnell Plaza.
