The inaugural Sheridan Media "Hillbilly 'Limpics" were held Thursday night at Fremont Toyota, with contestants showing off their skills in different hillbilly-themed tasks in an attempt to win tickets to Saturday's much-anticipated Wyoming/Nebraska game.
Kati Sears took home the gold plated Toyota hubcap, or first place; she says she had fun and explains what the hardest part of the course was.
The event began with a running of the tiki torch by Sheridan Media's Ben Chalker. Contestants threw ears of corn into a toilet marked “Flush the Huskers”; showed off their skills with a can opener and even bobbed for pigs ears.
Sears will sit in the seventh row in War Memorial Stadium at tomorrow's game, as she won two tickets. The prize also included a parking pass. The only bad news is, Sears is a Huskers fan. She grew up in Torrington near the Nebraska border.
She says she hasn't been to a Cowboys game in a few years and it's been even longer since she's seen the Huskers play, so she definitely wanted a chance to go.
Nebraska fan or not, there's no doubt Sears was thrilled for a chance to go to the game and will be putting the tickets to good use. For pictures from the event, check out Sheridan Media's Facebook page.
Wyoming and No. 9 Nebraska square off tomorrow afternoon in Laramie. Kickoff is set for 5:38. Listen to the game live on our sister stations AM 1410 KWYO, and FM 9.59.
The game will be televised on Versus.
