Governor Mead Activates Personnel for Flood Response

Governor Matt Mead has activated the Wyoming National Guard and has asked the Wyoming Office of Homeland Security to assist with flood prevention efforts in Carbon and Fremont Counties. Rising temperatures are expected to contribute to flood risk over the next few weeks.

County Valuations Up, State Down From Last Year

The Northern Wyoming Community College District will lay off administrative staff, cut expenses and draw on reserve funds to offset a loss of $1.8 million in operating funds for the next two years.

College Board Adopts Mill Levy

Trustees of the Northern Wyoming Community College District, which operates Sheridan and Gillette colleges and an outreach center in Buffalo, voted Thursday to continue the one-mill tax levy for the next two years for college operations.

The Buffalo City Council passed Ordinance No. 1383 on first reading but on a split 3-2 vote of the council members.

The Ordinance was introduced at the council's regular meeting Tuesday evening, and the council then took public comment before passing it on the split vote.
