WYOMING NEWS SERVICE, Casper, WY – From the Tea Party to the Green Party, everyone is invited to participate in a national dialogue about the federal budget Saturday, June 26th, including Wyomingites. Casper is one of more than a dozen locations taking part in national town hall-style meetings on the topic, coordinated by “America Speaks.”
Joe Goldman is with the non-partisan group, and he explains that the idea is to give the public a greater voice in the policy-making process.
Goldman says the event is not a debate, and those attending promise to do so in good faith towards discovering shared priorities.
And for folks who can't attend an official event, Goldman encourages creativity – and input will be gathered on the group's website, http://www.AmericaSpeaks.org
Each forum will be linked together by video, and will all happen simultaneously. The Casper meeting begins at 9:30 am at the Casper Events Center. Participants will break up into groups and use keypads to make their opinions known.
America Speaks will present the results of the national town hall to the Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform on June 30th.
