Sheridan receives yet another national feather in her cap!
Sheridan receives yet another national feather in her cap!

The honors just keep pouring in for Sheridan, Wyoming. Mayor Dave Kinskey's office passed along a news release from "This Old House" magazine that the Residence Hill Neighborhood in Sheridan has been chosen as one of the 64 Best Old-House Neighborhoods.

Eric Hagerman is a Senior Contributor with the magazine, and he tells us how Sheridan was chosen to join the list.

He adds that a nomination form is sent to 14,000 people through http://www.preservationdirectory..., which partners with "This Old House" magazine on the project.

Cities in each of the fifty states, the District of Columbia, twelve Canadian cities and one Puerto Rican town were chosen. And while Hagerman himself did not travel to Sheridan, he says the selection committee had a lot of input to put Sheridan, as he said, “on the radar.”

Towns in states surrounding Wyoming that were selected include the Ghost Historic District in Denver, Colorado; Normal Hill in Lewiston, Idaho; Bozeman, Montana – no specified area there; Eastwood Park in Minot, North Dakota; Yankton, South Dakota – no specified area there; the University District in Salt Lake City, Utah; and the Historic Field Club in Omaha, Nebraska.

About a dozen of the 64 neighborhoods will be highlighted in the April issue of “This Old House” magazine, which hits newsstands March 11th. All 64, including Sheridan's neighborhood, can also be seen online: http://www.thisoldhouse.com/toh/...
