Laura Lee "Muggy" Polster Clifford, 38, passed away February 23, 2009 at the South Big Horn County Critical Access Hospital in Basin, Wyoming surrounded by her loving family and special friends.
Muggy was born in Logan, Utah on October 30, 1970 to parents, John James "Jack" and Sandra Lee (Hanft) Polster. She attended schools in Sheridan, Wyoming from kindergarten. She received her high school diploma from Sheridan High School in 1989 and her Associate of Science degree from Sheridan College in 1991. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1993 from the University of Wyoming and continued her education at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon, graduating with honors and earning her Doctor of Optometry degree in 1997. Muggy worked for various optometry practices throughout the region, finally owning and operating SE Montana Eyecare in Forsyth and Colstrip, Montana. Her latest employment was through TLC Laser Vision Correction Center in Billings, Montana and Clear Image Vision Care in Worland, Wyoming. Muggy was a member of the Wyoming Optometric Association, the American Optometric Association, the Montana Optometric Association (MOA), a board member of MOA, and an executive for TLC. Muggy was united in marriage to Todd Clifford on April 17, 2007 in Absarokee, Montana and they have made their home in Basin Wyoming since that time. Todd and Muggy own and operate Valley Hardware in Basin. An amazing and talented young woman with a love for life, Muggy tackled any task with gusto and with her entire being. She loved any outdoor activity, helping others, her Boston Terriers, and crafting.
Muggy was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, John E. Hanft of Dayton, Wyoming; her paternal grandparents, James A. and Donna E. Polster of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin; and an uncle, Daniel Polster. Muggy is survived by her loving husband, Todd Clifford; her daughter, Johnna Lee Clifford and her son, Avery John Clifford of Basin; son, Petty Officer Second Class U.S. Navy Dana Neal Clifford of Forsyth, Montana; her parents, Sandra and Fred Prunty of Sheridan, Wyoming and Jack Polster of Homer, Alaska; her sister, Marsha Lee (Leo) Sano of Windsor, Colorado; her brother, Keith Prunty of Fargo, North Dakota; her grandmothers, Helen Lee Hanft of Dayton, Wyoming and Elenita Prunty of Sheridan, Wyoming; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, March 6, 2009 at the First Baptist Church, 3179 Big Horn Avenue, Sheridan, Wyoming, followed by a Reception in the foyer of the church, under the direction of Atwood Family Funeral Directors, Inc. of Basin, Wyoming and Kane’s Funeral Home of Sheridan, Wyoming. As per Muggy’s wishes, her eye tissue has been donated for transplant.
