Larry L. Cooley, age 61, of Sheridan, WY died Friday, February 13, 2009, in his Sheridan home.
Larry was born December 14, 1947, in Dayton, WY to Verner & Clara (Mooney) Cooley.
Larry grew up in Dayton and graduated from Tongue River High School in 1966. He served in the U.S. Army as a medic during the Viet Nam War. Larry married Susan Boyko in 1970. They later divorced. He worked all his life as a stone mason and was known for his beautiful stone work. Larry enjoyed cooking, collecting old bottles and spending time in the Big Horn Mountains or Lake DeSmet fishing. His favorite fishing hole was a small pond on Big Goose Creek. Larry was an avid gardener and raised very large gardens the past 12 years. He loved sharing his produce with his friends and neighbors. Larry loved animals and was always feeding them.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother Ronnie and brother Wendell, an uncle and one niece.
Larry is survived by his son Christopher Michael of Sheridan; daughter Kimberly Lynn Cooley-Sharypin; brothers Mike of Dayton, Raymond of Gillette, WY and Joe of California; sister Stella Paylor of Pinedale, WY; three grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be 11:00am on March 7, 2009, at Dayton Community Hall followed by a luncheon. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.
