Clinton R. Hoagland, 60, of Banner, passed away at his home on Saturday, February 21, 2009.
Clinton was born in Greeley, CO on June 15, 1948. He graduated from Cherry Creek High School in 1966 and from the Colorado School of Mines in 1970 with a degree in Geophysics. Two years after graduating he joined his grandfather in the ranching business and also became a real estate broker and owned his own company for the next twenty-five years. He was very active in his community serving as President of the Elizabeth, Colorado Chamber of Commerce, Treasurer of the Elbert County Fair Board, President of the Kiowa Soil Conservation District, Co-chair of the Elbert County Planning Commission, and Charter member of the Douglas-Elbert County Board of Realtors. At the time of his death he was President-elect of the Round-Up Riders of the Rockies. In 1995 he purchased the Banner Ranch in Banner, Wyoming where he continued in the ranching business. While living in Banner Clinton served on the board and as President of the Big Horn Equestrian Center and on the board of the Sheridan County Weed and Pest. He enjoyed outdoor activities including pack trips to the mountains, fishing, hunting, and playing polo.
Clinton is survived by his wife, Janet Hoagland, and son, William Hoagland, both of Banner; and his mother, Mary L. Hoagland, of Franktown, CO.
Cremation has taken place and no services are planned. Kane Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made in Clinton’s name to the Story Library or Sheridan County Historical Society, 429 W. Alger, Sheridan, WY 82801
