Sheridan Broncs

This last week starting on Thursday Feb. 17 and going through Saturday Feb. 19 Sheridan High School indoor track and field athletes traveled to Pocatello Idaho to compete in one of the largest national high school track meets. This year was a great year with over 20 Sheridan athletes making it to Simplot.

On Saturday as the clock clicked down to zero Sheridan Bronc Isaac Carrel, needing a 3-pointer, launched a long ball that was close but no good. As a result the unranked Laramie Plainsmen upset the 3rd ranked Broncs on Sheridan's home court by a final of 43 to 46. Next up for the Broncs is a road trip to Gillette on February 18th to take on the #1 Ranked Camels.

Saturday afternoon Sheridan's starting five, Noelle Golinvaux, Brianna Smith, Kayla Woodward, Stephany Sessions and Hailey Ligocki, hit the hardwood against the Indians from Cheyenne Central. In the 32-minutes that followed all eleven suited up Lady Broncs saw playing time en route to their 17th win - beating the Indians 74 to 46. The No.

In front of a standing room only crowd on Thursday evening Sheridan's Raith Durham hits a free-throw in the first period of play to draw the Broncs within 9 against the Campbell County Camels. The 2nd ranked Camels were just too much for the 3rd ranked Sheridan Broncs who came up on the short end of the 54-41final score.

Tuesday afternoon the 2011 High School Blood Drive Challenge was well underway at the old Woodland Park Elementary School (current location of the Sheridan Recreation Community Center) when Mike Morton from Big Horn arrived.

Sheridan Lady Broncs; Brianna Smith, Noelle Golinvaux, Kayla Woodward, Stephany Sessions and Hailey Ligocki start the 2nd half strong on both offense and defense against Laramie Friday evening at home during their first conference game of the season. They led by 10 at the half and came on strong in the 2nd half to beat the Lady Plainsmen 67 - 39 as they continued their unbeaten season.

Sheridan High School indoor track athletes traveled to spearfish this past Friday Jan. 14th for there first meet this season. The athletes were eager to get going and it showed. Running in the brand new track at spearfish the team did very well with boys team placing 2nd. Many athletes pre-qualified for the national meet in Idaho later in the season.

Up first and setting the tone for the Tuesday evening wrestling matches Sheridan's Derek Berrettini pinned Buffalo's Nathan Gilbert in 2:39 in the 119# weight class. Sheridan went on to beat Buffalo 57 to 18 by taking 10 of the 14 matches. Sheridan's next matches will be at the Miles City (Montana) Invitational on January 14th and 15th.
