Twenty-three old Joshua Wright has delighted audiences across the United States and in Europe and on Saturday evening the audience in the Early Auditorium was delighted, amazed and enthused as they witnessed a piano virtuoso up close and in person.
Wynton Grant, a senior at Sheridan High School, was the special guest performer on the stage of the Early Auditorium Saturday evening in conjunction with the Joshua Wright Concert. Wynton performed selections from "Sonata No. 8 in G Major, Op. 30, No. 3" and "Scottish Fantasy" accompanied on the piano by Lisa Robertson. Scroll down to see what else Wynton was up to on Saturday.
Friday near the end of a close game #5 of the 4A East Regional Girls Basketball Championships, Laramie put pressure on the Campbell County shooters, pulled down rebounds, stole the ball and hit hoops on the other end of the court to defeat Campbell County 44 to 42. Laramie advances to the Championship round against Cheyenne East at 1:00 p.m.
In Friday's game #6 of the 4A East Regional Boys Basketball Championships the Broncs came on strong at the end to upset Laramie 49 to 42 thanks in part to: a three by Isaac Carrel while getting a hug from Laramie's Nick Mayes, traffic direction from Raith Durham, power going to the hoop from Riley Ryan and a power dunk from Dex Currington.
Friday evening Amiah Warder won the Division IV (9th to 12th grade) of the 2011"Stars of Tomorrow" talent contest presented by the Sheridan Kiwanis Club and emceed by Judy Taylor. Amiah, who has played the piano since she was five, did a solo titled "Piano Sonata No. 17 in D Minor - The Tempest" by Beethoven - a song she has practiced for over a year.
