After two hours of grueling racing Braden West from Sheridan's Cub Scout Pack 385 came out on top and took home the Elakawee District Pinewood Derby "Grand Champion" trophy at the races held Saturday morning at Hammer Chevrolet.
After a hard day of driving at the Pinewood Derby track brothers Aiden, 7; and Gaige Vielhauer, 9; of Pack 385 in Sheridan sat down to enjoy their well deserved lunch courtesy of Todd Windsor and Jimmy Johns.
Kori Puckett, Big Horn; Nick McGaugh, Tongue River; Kaitlyn Bell, Big Horn; and Bryce Williams, Big Horn; let 'em fly at the Powder Horn Golf Course on Friday. Big Horn and Tongue River hosted the event involving several area high school teams that included Upton, Lusk, Moorcroft, Sheridan (JV only) and Wright.
In the recent edition of the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce "Member to Member" e-publication it was noted that a "Beautification Campaign For Green House Living" program is underway. This Selkirk Crabapple with its profusion of fragrant flowers was seen in Big Horn on Thursday as it basked in the sun before the arrival of rain forecast for the weekend. The Selkirk Crabapple - Malus 'Selkirk' - is a member of the Rosaceae - Rose Family suited to the Sheridan area with its hardiness zone rating of 4-7. On a breezy Thursday morning two entities were seen helping do their part to clean up the Sheridan area. Vehicles were being vacuumed and washed at the brand new Let'Er Buck Car Wash on Brundage Lane (WYO 334) while a Wyoming Department of Transportation street sweeper was busy sweeping the shoulders of the highway.
