Sheridan Lady Broncs; Brianna Smith, Noelle Golinvaux, Kayla Woodward, Stephany Sessions and Hailey Ligocki start the 2nd half strong on both offense and defense against Laramie Friday evening at home during their first conference game of the season. They led by 10 at the half and came on strong in the 2nd half to beat the Lady Plainsmen 67 - 39 as they continued their unbeaten season.
Sheridan High School indoor track athletes traveled to spearfish this past Friday Jan. 14th for there first meet this season. The athletes were eager to get going and it showed. Running in the brand new track at spearfish the team did very well with boys team placing 2nd. Many athletes pre-qualified for the national meet in Idaho later in the season.
Big Horn Senior Katie VanHoosier and Tongue River Freshman Tara Stimpson go up under the Big Horn basket as they battle for the ball Friday afternoon. The struggle continued on the landing with Tara getting help from Taylor LaFrance. The Lady Rams, on their home court with the stands filled to capacity, downed the Lady Eagles 49 to 32 in this cross-district rivalry game.
Tongue River's Stephen Yellowtail had a terrific Friday night with 37 points in a losing effort in part because of the height of Big Horn's 6'6" Colby Wollenman who blocks this shot. The Rams trailed at the half-way point by 4 but came back and won the game 68 to 53. In the earlier game the Lady Rams downed the Lady Eagles by a score of 49 to 32.
Up first and setting the tone for the Tuesday evening wrestling matches Sheridan's Derek Berrettini pinned Buffalo's Nathan Gilbert in 2:39 in the 119# weight class. Sheridan went on to beat Buffalo 57 to 18 by taking 10 of the 14 matches. Sheridan's next matches will be at the Miles City (Montana) Invitational on January 14th and 15th.
Sheridan High School Boys Head Golf Coach Larry Martoglio has been selected by the Wyoming Coaches Association as the 4A Boys Golf Coach of the Year for 2010. In Dayton Friday evening the Lady Eagles of Tongue River devoured the Lady Wolves from Moorcroft. Sophomore #42 Tianne Main's four points helped make the final score 68 to 18 as she is seen here near the end of the game going for a two pointer. On Saturday the Lady Wolves will play at Big Horn while the Lady Eagles will take on Lovell at home at 4:00 pm.
