The common phrase "once in a Blue Moon" is used colloquially to mean "a rare event." This August is one of those rare occasions in which there are two full moons within the same calendar month - something that happens about once every three years. The two full moons this August occur at exactly 9:28 pm MDT on August 1st and again at 7:58 pm MDT on August 31st.

On Skeeter Field Sunday afternoon at the Flying H Polo Ranch in Big Horn a nice sized crowd saw Coca-Cola defeat Bud Light 7 - 5 in the Goose Creek Cup. The City of Sheridan/Downtown Sheridan Association (DSA) sponsored the event which supports the DSA's Goose Creek Stream Restoration project.

Saturday morning about 100 hearty souls lent their feet for a good cause. They helped break in the first portion of the soon-to-be opened Soldier Ridge Trail off West Fifth Street. As you can see the youthful and not so youthful and their dogs (and one parrot) were among the first trudgers as they negotiated a switchback early on the trek.

This photo of Rob, from Eatons' Ranch, taken during Eatons' annual horse drive through Sheridan on May 27th serves as a reminder that July 28, 2012 marks the Eighth Annual National Day of the Cowboy (NDOC). The Wyoming Legislature permanently passed the NDOC on March 13, 2012, thanks to the efforts of volunteer Susan Thomas.

Rodeo attendees - mostly in pink - are arriving for the Friday full house for the Third PRCA Rodeo Performance of the 82nd Annual Sheridan WYO Rodeo. This birds eye view shows close-in parking filled to capacity while the High School parking lot has room to spare.

Saturday evening Sheridan greeted its new rodeo queen Leah Hall, senior princess Bailey McClean and princess Gabrielle Koltiska. Here the just crowned Leah Hall, in the center, mounts her horse and takes her first spin as queen around the arena and below the "Sheridan WYO Rodeo" sign. On the left is princess Gabrielle and on the right is senior princess Bailey.
