Thursday evening after wowing the rodeo arena crowd with her singing of the National Anthem Sheridan's Brekken Baker turned and waved to the grandstand crowd. It was a welcome home for the 20-year old and a treat for the local crowd after Brekken's two years of traveling the world with Up With People.
The 84th running of the Sheridan WYO Rodeo had Jerad Schlegel of Burns CO riding Bartender for 8-seconds and a score of 83. It was the first rough-stock event, bareback riding, of the evening rodeo events that started on Wednesday evening. Three evening PRCA Rodeo Performances remain starting at 7:00 pm Thursday - Saturday.
During Wednesday morning's Rodeo Slack Team Roping "header" Miles Kobold from Billings MT, formerly a Big Horn resident, casts a pink loop over the head of his steer as his "healer" Doug Cox from Gillette and formerly a Sheridan resident gets ready to throw his loop under the steer's hind legs.
Wednesday morning's Rodeo Slack didn't give Sheridan WYO Rodeo President & Arena Director Zane Garstad (on the left) any slack. Zane started his long day of the long rodeo week doing some "untying" during the tie-down roping rodeo slack event. The first PRCA Rodeo Performance including the World Championship Indian Relay Races starts Wednesday night at 7:00 pm.
On January 30th Sheridan High School senior Lachlan Brennan was rehearsing the third movement of Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata in Division IV of the local Kiwanis Stars of Tomorrow Talent Contest on the stage of the WYO Theater in Sheridan Wyoming.
The opening scene of "A Piece of My Heart" - the story of six women who served their country in Vietnam. In the beginning, shown here, each woman recounted the reasons for signing up. This production was one of the special remembrances in 2014 to mark the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War and was held in the atrium at the Edward A. Whitney Academic Center following dinner on Thursday evening.
