As reported Wednesday, the Sheridan County Commission voted down the proposed flood plain management plan, after months of open discussions and public meetings.

The mayors of Sheridan County's three smaller communities that will benefit from the capital facilities tax revenues all expressed pleasure over its passage.

Dayton's Town Council gave first-reading approval to a new floodplain ordinance Monday evening.

Many people are still taking advantage of the mild fall weather to enjoy the outdoors.

The tax of six cents on the dollar for Sheridan County will stay the same. The Capital Facilities Tax passed Tuesday, with just over a third of the 15,000 registered voters casting a ballot.

Voters in Sheridan County overwhelmingly were in support of the capital facilities tax, as almost 68 percent voted in favor of renewal of the tax in Tuesday's election. Sheridan Media's Ron Richter has more.
