Victorian-inspired wreaths, Christmas stockings, furniture and jewelry could all be found at the Behind the Picket Fence craft fair over the weekend in Sheridan, which featured vintage and recycled finds.

An early Christmas party set the scene this morning in the parking lot of the Sheridan Holiday Inn for the arrival of the 74-foot tall Capitol Christmas tree.

The public will receive an update on the Sheridan commercial air service, scheduled to restart this month, during this week’s monthly luncheon hosted by the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce.

The 74-foot tall spruce that will stand on the west lawn of the U.S. Capitol as the official Christmas tree is making only 13 stops on its way to Washington from Alaska, and it took one person to plant the seed to make sure one of the stops on its 5,000-mile trek was Sheridan.

While it’s taken a little longer than in years past, winter, snow, and icy roads will once again be the norm in and around Sheridan.

A little over a month ago, Wyoming recorded its first ever known fatality from rabies, when a 77-year-old Lander woman died from the viral disease after being bitten by an infected bat in August.

A road in Sheridan County will be closed starting this week. Sheridan Media reporter Pat Blair has the story.

Robert Griffin, who is a teacher at Tongue River Middle School, will be featured speaker at the Veterans Day Ceremony Wednesday morning at Sheridan's VA Medical Center.
