In the aftermath of the past weeks' storms, and as forecasts call for more rain in the days ahead, Sheridan Media reporter Pat Blair visited with the Sheridan County man whose job is to watch the waters.

N.A. Pearson has been given the contract for construction of two portable school houses in Sheridan.

We received a call early this morning from the Burlington, Northern, Santa Fe rail line that a train had derailed and closed a portion of Highway 336 to the town of Wyarno, about 10 miles east of Sheridan.

Melissa Ingalls of Sheridan, who works at the Sheridan Women’s Clinic as a medical assistant, was selected to receive the Marion and Wayland H. Cato Jr. Endowed Scholarship worth $1,000. The announcement was made by the Sheridan Memorial Hospital Foundation.

With recent thunderstorms causing power outages throughout the northeastern part of the state, the state highway department is reminding drivers they must treat intersections where traffic control lights are temporarily out of order as 4-way stops.

R.W. Kelly, president of the Holly Sugar company, arrived in Sheridan today. He will be here for several days.

A flood warning remains in effect for central Sheridan County until 9:30 tonight.

The National Weather Service, Riverton office, is predicting showers and thunderstorms this afternoon for the town of Buffalo, so a flash flood watch is in effect today, from 1 o’clock into the evening hours.
