There were only two alcohol related arrests by officers with the Sheridan Police Department on New Year’s Eve, one for DUI and the other for public intoxication.

Jesus Rios and Kelly Gooch were elected President and Vice President of the Sheridan City Council at their first meeting of the year Monday. The Council voted unanimously after Councilman Thayer Shafer nominated the pair and Councilwoman Kristin Kelly seconded the motion.

Registration is now open for the Sheridan County YMCA’s first Art Night according to Y Arts Coordinator Tyler Rogers. The program will be on January 20 from 5:30-7:30pm and is open for kids in grades 2-8.

Sheridan County commissioners approved three roads in the Powder Horn Ranch Planned Unit Development, and elected Steve Maier to serve as chairman for the coming year in their first meeting of 2017 Tuesday.

Ten local churches have gotten together to present “Christmas Lessons and Carols” Thursday night at 6:30 at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Sheridan.

The first Sheridan City Council Meeting of 2017 was held Monday night, and the big item on the agenda was the swearing in of the new Mayor and council.
