Since the story broke that members of the Westboro Church might be protesting at several memorial services in Sheridan this week, there has been much talk about protesting the protesters

The Sheridan Police Department is aware of claims by this group [the Westboro Baptist Church] that they will be in Sheridan to protest at this funeral. This group has made that claim previously for funerals of Wyoming Veterans and has not shown up. There is a state statute that requires that any protesters must stay 300 feet away from any funeral or cemetery. The Police Department intends to enforce that.
