CHEYENNE (AP) - A new study says 56% of the new students entering Wyoming community colleges aren't prepared for college-level courses. In addition, 23% of new students entering the University of Wyoming need help with math.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Twenty-five deaths in 12 states are now linked to listeria in cantaloupe, the deadliest known outbreak of foodborne illness in the U.S. in more than 25 years.

Representatives from the Town of Kaycee approached the Johnson County Commission at their meeting Tuesday to ask for the commission to back their request to the state to form their own solid waste district in southern Johnson County.

The Buffalo City Council honored the late councilman Bruce Hepp at their meeting Tuesday night, and declared a vacancy in the council, the first step in finding a new council member for the seat left when Hepp passed away suddenly earlier this month.

The Buffalo High School Marching Band was at the state competition last Saturday in Casper, and were awarded a “Superior” rating in the competition, the fifth year in a row they have achieved that mark. The band had set their goal of improving over last year's marks, which proved a tough challenge.

The 4th annual Sheridan Jaycees Turkey Shoot will take place this Saturday morning at the Sheridan Gun Club with all proceeds going to support Sheridan Jaycees Christmas Shopping Tour.

The Wyoming Legislature's Joint Judiciary Interim Committee approved a bill last Thursday in Laramie to bring before the Wyoming State Legislature next year that will allow for a second judge in District 4, encompassing Sheridan and Johnson counties.
