The Cato Fire, which has burned 27,700 acres northeast of Buffalo, is in mop-up stages as of Thursday evening, according to Johnson County Fire Chief Wes Johnson.

The Rosebud County Sheriff's dispatch confirmed reports that Ashland, Montana, was evacuated Tuesday afternoon due to fires near the area. More than 800 people were evacuated to nearby Lame Deer, Colstrip and Broadus.
