The music and dance of the Balkan region of eastern Europe was featured this weekend during numerous events put on by Orkestar Zirconium, a Seattle-based drum and brass band here to share their gift with the people of Buffalo.

State Representative Mike Madden will be giving updates throughout this Legislative session. This week he discussed a number of topics from the local government funding model to this week's budget work.

Volunteers of America representatives Todd Richins and Scott Duncan gave their quarterly report to the Johnson County Commissioners at their last meeting, then discussed possible mold mitigation at their current building.

Last weekend the Buffalo High School Speech team traveled to the Rapid City Stevens tournament. This event featured schools from throughout South Dakota and parts of Wyoming.

Seattle, Washington-based Orkestar Zirconium, a Balkanese-inspired brass and drum ensemble, will be in Buffalo Friday and Saturday for performances and public workshops.

The events are being brought to Buffalo by Worlds Of Music.

This Saturday's Pheasants Forever Banquet scheduled at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds is sold out, and although that is good news for the local chapter, it does mean there will be no tickets available at the door this year.

Coming up this Sunday, February 23rd is an Ice Fishing Derby at Healy Reservoir to benefit the local 4-H At Work Internship Program.

Buffalo Mayor Randy Dyess presented the State Of The City Address at ta luncheon Wednesday, touching briefly on a number of subjects from his love of serving as mayor to the accomplishments of the city to spending and reserve funds to what the future may hold.
