Sheridan County Public Health announced that during the recent holidays, reports of flu-like illnesses were at high levels. Toby Granger, Public Information Officer and Nurse Educator for Sheridan County Public Health, explains.

Those involved with trying to bring the Cowboy Carousel to a new home on North Lobban Avenue attended the last Buffalo City Council meeting, to gain support from the council as they pursue a grant to make the move and the Carousel Center happen.

Johnson County's new commissioner, Jim Hicks, will be sworn into office at a ceremony Monday morning.

The ceremony will be at the new Judicial Center in the District Courtromm beginning at 11:30am.

The Dan Carlat/Occidental Jam Memorial Scholarship Auction will be happening Thursday, January 24th, but donations are now being sought so they can be processed for the upcoming auction.

Wyoming Governor Matt Mead recently announced that the public can watch the State of the State address live online this Wednesday. Governor Mead will deliver the State of the State address to a joint session of the Wyoming Senate and House of Representatives on January 9 at 10:00 a.m.

During their last meeting the Johnson County Healthcare Center's Board of Trustees were presented with the financial report for December of 2012.

According to Hospital Administrator Sandy ward, the facility is ahead of projections for FY 2013, starting out in reasonably good shape from November to December, up $41,000 in gross patient revenue.

The White House issued a statement Friday on the most recent unemployment figures, showing that the unemployment rate remained at 7.8-percent in December. Sheridan Media's Chris Foy has more.

Buffalo's City Council discussed the proposed sewer rate increase at the first regular meeting of 2013 Wednesday night, but did not implement a rate increase just yet. The rate increase, the council decided, will move forward but will need to be presented as an Ordinance and have three readings before it can be implemented.
