Weekend local sports wrap up

BRONC / LADY BRONC BASKETBALL - The Bronc and Lady Bronc basketball teams opened conference play the Lady Broncs swept their road trip with victories at Laramie and Cheyenne South.

The Broncs took two tough losses losing at Laramie by three and Cheyenne South by two, this week both teams play at home hosting games with Cheyenne East and Cheyenne Central.

EAGLES / LADY EAGLES BASKETBALL - The Tongue River Eagles and Lady Eagles swept all four games on the weekend with victories over Moorcroft and Sundance, they host Rocky Mountain Friday and play at Wright Saturday.

Bronc / Lady Bronc indoor track off and running / SHS Hoops in Laramie tonight / Eagles and Rams both home tonight

BRONC / LADY BRONC INDOOR TRACK - The Bronc and Lady Bronc indoor track teams will compete in their next meet Saturday in Gillette.

Taylor Kelting takes over the head track coaching job from longtime coach Art Bauers, Kelting went to high school in Gillette and was a distance runner at the University of Wyoming in his college days.

He says they got off to a good start to the season with several athletes able to participate in off season training.

SHS Construction project on schedule / Pokes and Cowgirls fall against Nevada / Live SHS Hoops Friday night

SHS FACILITY UPDATE - Construction on the new locker room and class room addition at Sheridan high school is really starting to take shape as we sat down with Sheridan high school Activities Director Don Julian to get a progress report on the expansion.

First Julian says it's been quite a journey to get to this point.

The biggest hurdle in these types of projects is fund raising and Julian says the entire community came together to make it happen.

Sheridan College volleyball adds local standout Ashlee Purcella to the 2016 roster

Ashlee Purcella is a 5’10” Middle Hitter from Kaycee.

“Ashlee brings a very unique skill set to our roster. She is extremely athletic, has a high volleyball IQ and he ability to be an offensive threat with both her right and left hand is a huge advantage. Ashlee has set herself apart from her teammates in her work ethic and drive and I foresee her doing the same at Sheridan College. “said SC head coach Jennifer Stadler.

BRONC / LADY BRONC BASKETBALL - The Bronc and Lady Bronc basketball teams open conference play at Laramie Friday night game times are scheduled for 5:30 and 7:00 you can hear them both live on KWYO and 87.7 FM. Saturday they play at Cheyenne South games at 11:30 and 1:00 on KWYO.

January 18th

High school conference hoops open this week / Pokes / Cowgirls live Wednesday v Nevada / Sheridan Hawks skate on home ice this weekend

BRONC / LADY BRONC HOOPS - The Bronc and Lady Bronc basketball teams open conference play at Laramie Friday night game times are scheduled for 5:30 and 7:00 you can hear them both live on KWYO and 87.7 FM.Saturday they play at South games at 10:30 and 1:00 on KWYO.

The Lady Broncs are 5-6 heading into conference play the Broncs are 3-8 overall.

RAMS / EAGLES HOOPS - The Big Horn Rams and Lady Rams host games with Wright Friday. The Tongue River Eagles and Lady Eagles will stay home this week hosting Moorcroft and Sundance Friday and Saturday.

Sheridan Bulldogs, 7th grade girls basketball team. They went undefeated January 17th , winning Power to Play Casper Area Holiday Championship.

Weekend local sports wrap up

BRONC / LADY BRONC BASKETBALL - The Sheridan high school basketball teams both dropped games against Billings West Friday night, the Lady Broncs lost in Billings 54-42 while the Broncs fell at home 48-36.

The Broncs played much better defense in the game holding a very good west team to 48 points, Broncs Head coach Gale Smith.

Now they get ready to open conference play at Laramie Friday.
