Bison Swimmers Host Meet, Perform Well

The Lady Bison swim team hosted their Buffalo Pentathlon last Friday, with teams from Newcastle, Worland, Douglas as well as Buffalo at the meet.
A number of individual Bison had great performances.
In the 100 butterfly, Buffalo's Hannah Chapin took second, being beaten by less than a second by Carolyn Kennedy of Worland.
Buffalo's Caley Stafford took fourth and Misty Ballek took fifth.

SHS X-COUNTRY OFF AND RUNNING

X-COUNTRY - The Bronc and Lady Bronc cross country runners started their season at the Casper invitational last Friday, the Broncs had four varsity runners and did not qualify for the team race and the Lady Broncs raced JV in the first meet of the season, that will all change this week as Sheridan high school will host the Michelle Ludwig invitational.

Head Coach Art Bauers says their Pre-season went well and both teams are young and the opening race went well.

Bison Sports Weekend Results

The Bison sports teams were in action over the weekend, and results were mixed.
The Lady Bison volleyball team was at the Douglas Invite and split their matches, going 2-2. Buffalo beat Cheyenne South in pool play 3-0 before losing to Douglas 1-2. In the tournament, the Lady Bison beat Newcastle and then lost to the eventual tournament champion Torrington.
Jenna Anderson and Kinzi Litzel led in attacking and blocking, and Sam Schroefel served 95% and had 86 assists for the tournament.
The girls will be at the Gillette Invite this Friday and Saturday.

Bison Teams Have Another Busy Weekend

The Buffalo High School Bison athletic teams had another busy weekend with all but the football team in action.

The Bison Golf Team was in the Bighorn Basin for the Powell/Cody Invite. The first round of the tournament was called early due to lightning, so the tournament was an 18-hole event. No Bison golfers finished in the top ten, and the boys team finished seventh out of 10 teams, the girls team finished tied for fourth.

WEEKEND SPORTS WRAP UP

FOOTBALL - The Sheridan Bronc football team beat Cheyenne Central 31-12 Friday night jumping out to a 14-0 halftime lead and building that lead to 31-6 entering the 4th quarter.

Senior running back Jordan Roberts ran for 137 yards and two touchdowns in his first game in a Bronc uniform.

Quarterback Kevin Bakkehaug threw for 162 yards and two scores as the Broncs took the opener Head coach Don Julian.

THE 2011 FOOTBALL SEASON OPENS TONIGHT

FOOTBALL - The Sheridan Bronc football team opens the season tonight at Homer Scott stadium against Cheyenne Central.

We heard a little about the offense yesterday on the defensive side of the ball they must replace 10 of 11 starters Head coach Don Julian.

The Broncs dominated special teams last year returning eight kicks and punts for touchdowns and Julian says this fall again they will make special teams a big part of their success.

Lady Bison Swimmers Young But Experienced

The Lady Bison Swim team may be young and might be lacking senior leadership, but Coach Ed Von Holst has seen these kids come up the ranks from USA Swimming into middle school and now high school, so they have experience in competition, he said.
He tells us more about the team.
Von Holst said the team has traditionally had good swimmers and he expects many to qualify for State.

BRONC GOLFERS WIN AGAIN

GOLF - The Bronc golfers win their 21st consecutive tournament winning the Buffalo Invitational Tuesday.

The Broncs took the team title by 54 shots Kamrin Allen was the overall medalist with rounds of 68 and 69.

Chris Cremer was 3rd, Cole Smith was 5th and Jack Mavarakis was 7th, Big Horn Ram Bryce Williams finished in the top ten in 6th place.

The top finisher for the Lady Broncs was Hillary Lindell she finished 6th overall.

This week the Broncs and Lady Broncs will play at tournaments Friday and Saturday in Powell and Cody.
