2011 HOOP JAM TAKES PLACE SATURDAY AND SUNDAY

2011 HOOP JAM - This weekend the 3 on 3 Sheridan Hoop Jam basketball tournament will take place in Whitney Plaza.

The event draws youth and adult teams from all over the region the tournament benefits many youth programs including the Sheridan high school Athletic trainers program.

Sheridan high school Activities Director Don Julian says the training program is a huge part of activities at Sheridan high school.

TROOPERS WIN 2 OF 3 IN GILLETTE

SHERIDAN TROOPER BASEBALL - The Sheridan Troopers played three games in Gillette before rained forced the cancellation games games Sunday and Monday.

The Troops opened the tournament with a 3-2 loss against Gillette but came back with victories over Jackson and Douglas.

The Troops are now 7-2 on the season will play a home double header with Douglas Friday evening the first game will start at 6:00 then they head to Rapid City for two on Sunday.

SHERIDAN COLLEGE GENERALS BASKETBALL - Sheridan college men's basketball coach Steve Smiley says recruiting has gone very well this spring as they have two more players to sign the 2011 class includes players from all across the country.

And Smiley says they'll have a least one more international player join the team in the fall.

2011 STATE SOCCER CUP - The Wyoming State Soccer Cup will be played Saturday and Sunday at the Big Horn Equestrian center.

SHERIDAN COLLEGE BASKETBALL - Sheridan college men's basketball coach Steve Smiley says recruiting has gone very well this spring and they are close to wrapping up the roster that will make up the 2011-12 Generals.

One signee is class 3-A player of the year from the state champion Buffalo Bison Aaron Tyser , Smiley says they've been watching Tyser play for the last three years and are happy to have him join the team this fall.

Bison Soccer Players Receive Postseason Honors

The recognition for Bison soccer athletes didn't end with their exceptional showing at the state tournament last week, but continued with the release of the All-Conference and All-State selections this week.
The Bison boys' team finished as the runner-up to Cody in the State Title game and the girls finished third at State.

RAIN, RAIN, RAIN , MAYBE BASEBALL THIS WEEKEEND

TROOPER BASEBALL - The Sheridan Troopers will haven't played a baseball game in two weeks since a road double header sweep in Casper and they will be keeping their fingers crossed as they are scheduled to be one of the teams playing at a tournament in Gillette this weekend.

The troopers are 5-1 on the season and Head coach Ben Phillips says they are trying their best to stay sharp.

And he says so far the players have done a good job of making the team better.

BRONC SOCCER - The Sheridan Broncs won the 2011 4-A Wyoming state soccer championship Saturday and the celebration lasted long after the game ended Saturday evening Head coach Kevin Riser really enjoyed his time with the players this season.

Big Horn senior Colby Wollenmen has played for the Bronc soccer team the last two years.

SHERIDAN BRONCS WIN 4-A STATE SOCCER TITLE

THE BRONC CELEBRATE THE 2011 STATE SOCCER TITLE

4-A STATE SOCCER CHAMPIONS - The Sheridan Broncs are the 2011 4-A Wyoming state soccer champions they beat Laramie 2-1 in the title game Saturday at the Big Horn Equestrian Center.

Laramie scored the games 1st goal in the opening minutes of the game but the Broncs would answer back scoring twice in the span of three minutes late in the first half to grab the lead.

Junior Hunter Reece got the go ahead and game winning goal in the 31st minute as both teams went scoreless in the second half.

Bison Soccer: Boys Second, Girls Third

The Bison soccer teams wrapped up their soccer seasons this past weekend, with the boys finishing second and the girls third at the state tournament.
The boys started with a win Thursday over Powell 8-0, then beat Lander 2-0 Friday, which set up the championship with Cody Saturday. The Bison fell in a tough-fought 2-1 loss to the Broncs to finish second at state.
